''I’ve run alone and with other clubs, it’s been really refreshing to be welcomed into a club that shows vulnerability and puts mental health to the fore. I’m qualifying as a therapist and forever preaching about the benefits of running in relation to wellbeing. A lot of the running community are so pace focused which is intimidating to new or slower runners, which puts a lot of unnecessary pressure on people, ending up being bad for mental wellbeing. I’ve found OverRun project to be so genuinely accepting and true to what their core values are.''

''I joined OverRun primarily because of its focus on mental health, something that resonates deeply with me due to my own ongoing battles. Finding a club that openly promotes the positive impact of exercise, community and support on mental wellbeing was exactly what I was looking for. What I found was so much more than a running club. Since day one, every single person has been incredibly welcoming, supportive and genuine. The people are what truly make OverRun what it is, and I want to take the time to recognise that and simply say thank you. The sense of belonging I've found here reminds me of the family-like bond I once had while serving. It's a feeling that's difficult to put into words, but one that has meant a great deal to me.

My advice to anyone reading this and contemplating joining is simple: take that first step when you're ready. You'll be welcomed without judgement, supported throughout your journey and surrounded by people who genuinely care.''

''I've always felt incredibly welcome, with absolutely no pressure to run at a certain pace. Finding a real community of like-minded people has been one of the best parts – I've made great friends, can chat about training, and enjoy going to races together. We celebrate each other's achievements and are always there to support one another through any challenges.''

I joined OverRun a week after running my first ever 5K in 2024, and it was probably one of the best things I’ve ever done. This group is so much more than just running; there is genuine love and respect within this community that has been built. I have gained so much more than kilometres run through OverRun - lifelong friendships, a support network, and a space where people run for the peace it brings them. OverRun is more than just a run club, it’s a community.

''A huge part of my life has been joining OverRun, run by Harry Higgs. The friendships and support I’ve found there have honestly meant a lot to me. Being around positive people who encourage each other, no matter what level you are, has helped build my confidence massively and reminded me how important community is for mental health.''

''I’d been a solo runner since 2011, just me and my thoughts out on the road or a treadmill. I enjoyed it, but I didn’t realise I was missing the social side of things. It was my daughter who encouraged me to join OverRun project, as she could see it might really help my wellbeing. I’m glad she did.

From the start, everyone was really welcoming, which made the move from running alone to being part of a group easier than I expected. It’s not about pace or competition, it’s just people supporting each other and enjoying the run.

Running with others has definitely made a difference. It’s added a social side I didn’t have before, and I’ve found it really positive for my mindset as well as my fitness. I’m more consistent now too, as there’s always that extra motivation to turn up and be part of it.

All in all, OverRun has been a great experience. I’m really grateful my daughter pushed me to give it a go! It’s made running even more enjoyable.''

''I joined OverRun to get to know more people and have a regular club to go to on a Tuesday evening. I’ve made lots of good friends and love how the club has grown and developed over time, including the food and drinks after runs. Life can be challenging and doesn’t always go the way you want so it’s great that the group is so supportive of each other.''

I'd previously heard about OverRun via Facebook and through a couple of my running friends, but didn't think I was quite ready to join a big group just yet. However, on the day of the 10 Bays Challenge I was introduced to quite a few members whilst we were waiting to start.

They joined me into their conversations, took an active interest into my start to running as I'm still fairly new to it and even let me join their group photo which made me feel incredibly welcome! We wished each other luck before starting and even their club members volunteering on the day cheered me on part way round!

I've now completed my first "Rise & Run" with them and felt just as welcome and included as I did before and look forward to many more runs with them!
