Tough Mudder, you either love it or you hate it. For us, it was a challenge of physical and mental endurance!
If you haven't heard of Tough Mudder, it's basically a chance to frolic in mud, splash in mud, and then, just for a change, wallow in even more mud. Featuring a 5K and 15K distance, the famous mud run tests your physical strength and mental resilience. We sent 16 of our OverRunners there, all whilst fundraising for Mind.
We kicked off the day bright and early at 6:30, eagerly meeting the team at The Swan by 8:15, ready to set off at 8:30. Our wave was set to start at noon, and we couldn't wait! The warm-up was just a sign of the tough and muddy conditions that were set to come, with muddy crawls and team building exercises!
We split into two groups, one tackling the 5K route and the other conquering the 15K! Our mission was crystal clear: we were a team, and no one gets left behind! If you thought you could take this on solo, think again!
After wrapping up the course, our first mission was to wash off; but if you've ever experienced Tough Mudder, you'll know the "showers" arent exactly that of a luxury spa! Picture a hosepipe with the personality of Antarctica, dangling from some scaffolding like it's auditioning for a circus act... yep, that's your shower experience. And don't forget the bonus mud sprinkle on your way out, just in case you missed it!
We wrapped up the day by diving headfirst into some amazing grub and drinks, because honestly, who doesn't crave a hotdog and fries after running like you're being chased by a swarm of bees? As the delightful symphony of aches and pains began their encore, we embarked on the journey home, making pit stops at every coffee oasis to refuel our bodies and souls.
We all unanimously agreed: once was more than enough... roll on 2026!
