The Wingham Run - Race Report

What a morning for the club at The Wingham Run!
A fantastic 17 members turned out to tackle Sunday’s race, with club member Callum stepping up to volunteer and marshal the course. A sea of OverRun green filled the start line as everyone gathered ahead of the race. The humidity was doing its best to make
things interesting, but not a drop of rain fell during the warm-up or the race itself.
The course certainly kept legs honest, offering a varied elevation profile with a mixture of gradual climbs and descents throughout, all while taking in picturesque views of the surrounding Kent countryside. While there were no particularly steep or sustained climbs, the undulating nature of the course required runners to manage their effort carefully.
A handmade pottery medal was waiting for everyone who crossed the finish line, kindly made by Canterbury Pottery.
Several club members overcame the hills to secure well-deserved PBs, with Emily Brown,
Hayley Jeffery and Kieran Price all setting personal bests; while Paul Suttle took 1st place in his age category. It was also a welcome return for Katherine Cheeseman after a frustrating spell out with a calf tear.
A further mention goes out to club members Amanda Nicolls and Martin Broadbent, who couldn’t join us as they’d made the long journey to the opposite end of the country to take on The Great North Run.
Congratulations to everyone who ran and a big thank you to the volunteers. We look
forward to the next race!
