OverRun VS Snowdon Summit

2 min read

On August Bank Holiday weekend, 6 OverRunners travelled up to take on the highest mountain in Wales, Mt Snowdon standing at 1085m at it's peak.

Our Club Founder, Harry as well as Ambassador Emily and 4 members of the team travelled 6 hours to Northern Wales as a convoy on the Saturday, before unloading at the hotel and walking into Porthmadog for dinner and pre-hike drinks!

6:00 AM Sunday morning was the beginning of our ascent, which consisted of a 20 minute drive and a 2km walk to the start of the hiking trail. Not put off by the weather (rain and strong winds), we set off determined to reach the peak. Taking the Pyg trail which took approximately 3.5 hours, we unfortunately were not treated to any views on the way up due to the fairly thick cloud coverage but still had a laugh together. We reached the peak at roughly 10:30, took some photos whilst being battered by the chilly, strong wind before heading to the rest stop to warm up with hot food and drinks.

We decided to split into two groups for the journey down; one taking the Llanberis path that had a flatter, more forgiving trail and the other taking Miners that had some steep declines but beautiful views of the lakes. By this point the cloud coverage had begun to pass, the rain had mostly stopped and we were able to soak up the gorgeous views of Snowdonia National Park.

The full hike from leaving the cars to the finish took us just under 8 hours in total, leaving Wales at 15:30 to return home.

Overall, an amazing time was had full of laughter and best of all, incredible memories were made!

Keep an eye out for the next adventure!
